Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Endpoint:
relative self-ignition temperature (solids)
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Reliability:
1 (reliable without restriction)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
guideline study
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
EU Method A.16 (Relative Self-Ignition Temperature for Solids)
Deviations:
no
GLP compliance:
yes
Remarks on result:
no self-ignition observed up to the melting point
Remarks:
It is believed that the sample melted and decomposed

The sample entered a small endotherm before rising up into a large exotherm. The sample then continued to track the oven temperature for the duration of the test. The sample is believed to have melted and decomposed as a black crispy product remained on the bottom of the oven. Therefore no self-ignition was recorded.

Conclusions:
The sample entered a small endotherm before rising up into a large exotherm. The sample then continued to track the oven temperature for the duration of the test. The sample is believed to have melted and decomposed as a black crispy product remained on the bottom of the oven. Therefore no self-ignition was recorded.
Executive summary:

The test was conducted in accordance with the procedure described in EU Regulation (EC) 440/2008, Annex Part A test A16. The sample entered a small endotherm before rising up into a large exotherm. The sample then continued to track the oven temperature for the duration of the test. The sample is believed to have melted and decomposed as a black crispy product remained on the bottom of the oven. Therefore no self-ignition was recorded.
