Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

First-aid measures

Emergency measure - Inhalation: Remove to fresh air.  Seek medical attention if symptoms

develop (give oxygen or start mouth to mouth resuscitation

as appropriate).

In all cases, remove contaiminated clothing and launder

before re-use.

Emergency measure - Eyes: Wash immediately with water for at least 15 minutes.  Seek

medical attention.

Emergency measure - Skin: Thoroughly wash with soap and water. Seek medical attention.

Emergency measure - Ingestion: Wash out mouth and drink plenty of water.  Seek medical

attention.

Fire-fighting measures

Recommended extinguishing agent: Use dry powder, foam or halons.

Product arising from burning: Combustion products may contain carbon, nitrogen and sulphur

oxides together with some hydrogen chloride gas and soot.

Product determined by test: N

Protective equipment: Wear a self-contained breathing apparatus.

Accidental release measures

Emergency measures in case of spillage: Wear skin, eye and respiratory protection (see 2.3.1).

Isolate and evacuate the affected area. Collect the spillage

by careful sweeping or vacuum cleaning and transfer to

suitably labelled, sealable, double polyethylene bag for

recovery or disposal by incineration. Wash down the

contaminated area with copious amounts of water and

detergent. All washings should be collected and disposed of

appropriately.

Handling and storage

Handling: Small quantities should be handled in a fume cupboard.

Gloves and a dust mask (half-face type) should be worn.

Large quantities should be handled in an enclosed working

area with restricted access. Use mechanical ventilation

wherever possible.

Skin, eye and respiratory protection should be worn when

handling large quantities of the substance, and during

batching operations; e.g. plastic or rubber gloves (BS

1651), knee-length rubber boots (BS 1870) and an air-fed

plastic suit (manufactured in accordance with national

requirements).

Storage: Store in a clearly labelled sealed container in a cool, dry

and well ventilated area. Packaging will be either double

polyethylene bags in closed kegs or plastic bags inside

fibreboard containers (30-35 kg).

Disposal considerations

Industry - Possibility of recovery/recycling: The substance may be recovery by disslovlving in water,

passing through a 10 micron filter and recrystallisation

following the addition of ethyl acetate.

Industry - Possibility of neutralisation: Neutralisation is not recommended as the chemicals required

would increase the hazard.

Industry - Possibility of destruction: controlled discharge: Not recommended.

Industry - Possibility of destruction - incineration: Disposal by incineration at a facility equipped with waste

gas treatment to remove nitrogen and sulphur oxides and

hydrogen chloride gas should nbe used.  The incineration

temperature should be in the range 1000-1200 deg C.

Industry - Possibility of destruction - water purification: Not recommended.

Public at large - Possibility of recovery/recycling: The substance will not enter the public domain.
