Description of key information

Nickel speiss, as measured by the flask method is very slightly soluble in cold water.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

To investigate the water solubility of Nickel speiss, the flask method was used. Six samples were prepared, each of which contained approx. 500 mg of the test item in 20.0 ml water. The samples were shaken at 30 °C for 72 h, 96 h and 120 h, respectively, then equilibrated at 20 ± 0.5 °C for 4 h and filtrated (0.45 μm). The concentration of Nickel speiss in the clear aqueous phase of the samples was analysed by ICP-OES. Based on the outcome of this key study Nickel speiss is very slightly soluble in cold water.
