Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

A thermal analysis is used as key study to investigate the freezing point. Based on the results obtained in an aluminium crucible under argon, it can be concluded that freezing began at 750°C and was complete at 700°C.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Melting / freezing point at 101 325 Pa:
700 °C

Additional information

For the determination of the freezing temperature of Nickel speiss the material was placed in an aluminium crucible and placed in an oven. The temperature was raised to 200°C above the estimate melting/freezing temperature under Ar gas 60l/h. Once this temperature is reached the crucible was pulled out the oven and the temperature was monitored. For Nickel speiss the freezing began at 750°C and was complete at 700°C.
