Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Hydrolytically stable at pH 4, 7, 9.

Under the simulated gastric conditions (0.1 M HCl / pH 1.2 / 37 °C) 75 % of the substance was hydrolyzed to dioctyltin chloro-(2-ethylhexyl thioglycolate).

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Half-life for hydrolysis:
1 yr
at the temperature of:
25 °C

Additional information

No data is available for the assessement of the hydrolysis of the substance therefore data on Similar Substance 01 is used. Justification for Read Across is given in Section 13 of IUCLID.

The hydrolysis of the analogue substance was evaluated in published in-vitro study according to the OECD Guideline 111. The substance was incubated with the respective buffer solution at pH 1.2 at 37 °C and at pH 4, 7 and 9 at 50 °C for 120 h. The reaction mixtures were extracted with hexanes and the remaining residues after the removal of the solvent, were analysed by 119Sn-NMR spectroscopy. The substance was found to be hydrolytically stable at pH 4, 7 and 9 with respective hydrolysis by 6.6 %, 5.3 % and 1.9 %. On the contrary, at pH 1.2 the amount of the formed DOTCE was 70.8 Mol. % and the amount of the remaining substance was only 23.0 Mol. % bis(2-ethylhexyl thioglycolate). Under simulated gastric conditions, no Dioctyltin dichloride was formed while the dioctyltin chloro-(2-ethylhexyl thioglycolate) is the main hydrolysis product. Hydrolytically stable at pH 4, 7 and 9 at 50 °C.
