First-aid measures

Emergency measure - Inhalation: Remove from area and seek medical advice.

Emergency measure - Eyes: Wash with plenty of water. If irritation persists seek

medical advice.

Emergency measure - Skin: Wash with plenty of soap and water. Remove contaminated

clothes.

Emergency measure - Ingestion: Keep the patient at rest, seek medical advice.

Fire-fighting measures

Recommended extinguishing agent: Use water spray to cool surfaces exposed to heat and

protect personnel. Stop the leak when it can be done

without danger. Extinguish with foam, powder or water

spray. Avoid spraying water directly into the storage tank

in order to avoid spreading the product.

Accidental release measures

Emergency measures in case of spillage: On Soil: Contain the spead of liquid with sand or earth.

Suck up the liquid or absorb with a non combustible

absorbant. Consult a specialist with regard to the

destination of the recovered product. On Water: If possible

prevent the spread of the product. Clean the surface of the

water by skimming with adapted absorbants. In running

water, with the approval of the local authorities, use

agents capable of dispersing or precipitating the film.

Handling and storage

Handling: Keep equipment on the ground. For pipes to load the product

use PTFE, polysulphides (THIOKOLS), Viton type copolymers,

copper or bronze. Do not use natural rubber,SBR, butyl and

neoprene rubber. When charging or discharging put the

receptacle on the ground. Use protective clothing, glasses

and gloves.

Storage: Store on the ground. Advisable materials: carbon steel or

stainless steel,coatings of zinc, epoxy phenolic resins,

epoxy polyamides, amine epoxides. Prohibited materials:

coatings of plastics and rubbers as in 2.3.1.

Stability and reactivity

Danger other than fire: Contact of the product with water gives no reaction. Avoid

contact with oxidising agents, nitric acid, sulphuric acid

as the reactions can be strongly exothermic.

Industry - Possibility of recovery/recycling: Recovery for recycling is not possible except if the

product is used in transformers (regeneration of oils

used).

Industry - Possibility of neutralisation: None known.

Industry - Possibility of destruction: controlled discharge: Not recommended.

Industry - Possibility of destruction - incineration: Disposal at an authorised facility is recommended.
