Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

First-aid measures

Emergency measure - Inhalation: Remove to fresh air. Seek medical attention if irritation

occurs.

Emergency measure - Eyes: Flush eyes lightly with plenty of water for at least 15

minutes. Seek medical attention.

Emergency measure - Skin: Wash affected area with soap and water for at least 15

minutes. Launder clothing before reuse.

Seek medical attention if irritation occurs.

Emergency measure - Ingestion: Seek immediate medical attention.

Fire-fighting measures

Recommended extinguishing agent: Water jet/foam, carbon dioxide.

Product arising from burning: There are no known combustion hazards, however the substance

will burn if involved in a fire, evolving noxious fumes (eg

carbon oxides and organic decomposition products).

Product determined by test: N

Protective equipment: Full protective clothing and self-contained breathing

apparatus must be worn.

Accidental release measures

Emergency measures in case of spillage: Evacuate personnel from immediate vicinity.

Wear appropriate personal protective equipment conforming to

the relevant national or international standards.

Absorb spillages of solutions with a suitable inert material

(eg sand or soil). Carefully transfer the spillage to waste

containers, or use a sealed industrial vacuum machine.

Containers filled with waste material must be labelled in

the same way as the original containers.

Clean the spillage area with water and detergent and dispose

of waste material in accordance with local regulations.

Handling and storage

Handling: The substance should be stored, handled and used in

conditions of good industrial hygiene and in conformity with

any local regulations in order to avoid exposure by skin and

eyes. The work area should be ventilated if necessary to

avoid inhalation and contact.

Engineering controls are necessary to reduce exposure to the

substance.

When exposure cannot be prevented or adequately controlled

appropriate personal protective equipment should be worn.

Such protective equipment should conform to the appropriate

international or national standards as follows;

Chemical protective gloves to Standard EN374

Chemical resistant clothing to Standard EN368

Eye protection to Standard EN166

When necessary appropriate respiratory protection should be

used. e.g.a dust mask conforming to EN149 FFP1.

The standards mentioned above should be regarded as a

minimum.

Storage: Store in a cool, dry and well ventilated area away from

sources of ignition, extremes of temperature and volatile

chemicals.

Keep containers tightly closed when not in use.

Packaging of the substance and or preparation: The substance will be imported either in 10lb craft paper

bags in cardboard boxes or as a component of a toner

preparation packaged in toner cartridges.

Stability and reactivity

Danger other than fire: The substance can build up static electrical charges when

subjected to friction. Proper precautions when using the

substance in the presence of explosive gases and liquids

should be taken to prevent accidents.

Chemical reaction with water: None reported.

Dust explosion: The substance is an inorganic dust and will not create nor

support conditions that would result in a dust explosion or

fire.

Dust explosion determined by test: N

Disposal considerations

Industry - Possibility of recovery/recycling: It is recommended that waste material recovered from minor

spillages or accidental discharge be sent to a licensed

recycler or reclaimer in accordance with applicable local

and national laws and regulations. Cartridges containing

residual amounts of the substance  may be returned to the

toner manufacturer for recycling.

Industry - Possibility of neutralisation: Not applicable as not classified.

Industry - Possibility of destruction: controlled discharge: Contaminated containers or spillages of solutions mixed with

inert material (eg sand or soil) may be disposed of by

landfill at an authorised tip in accordance with local

regulations.

Industry - Possibility of destruction - incineration: Not recommended.

Industry - Possibility of destruction - water purification: Not recommended.

Public at large - Possibility of recovery/recycling: Spent toner cartridges are mailed back to the manufacturer

for refurbishment and refill.

Public at large - Possibility of neutralisation: Not applicable as not classified

Public at large - Possibility of destruction: controlled discharge: Contaminated containers or spillages of solutions mixed with

inert material (eg sand or soil) may be disposed of by

landfill at an authorised tip in accordance with local

regulations.

Public at large - Possibility of destruction - incineration: Not recommended.

Public at large - Possibility of destruction - water purification: Not recommended.
