Additional information

Short description of key information:
In-vitro mutagenicity tests conducted with (3-chloro-2-hydroxypropyl)trimethylammonium chloride have given a positive result (8 microbial mutagenicity tests, chromosome aberration study in human lymphocytes, liver unscheduled DNA synthesis assay (mostly in line with OECD 482 recommendations), gene mutation study in Chinese hamster ovary cells (mostly in line with OECD 476 recommendations). In the mouse micronucleus test in vivo, mutagenicity was not observed. [Source : European Union Risk Assessment Report for (3-Chloro-2-hydroxypropyl)trimethylammonium Chloride, 2008]
