Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

One ready biodegradation study is available for Fatty acids, C8-18 and C18-unsatd., esters with neopentyl glycol (CAS No. 85186-86-3).

The key ready biodegradability study carried out with Fatty acids, C8-18 and C18-unsatd., esters with neopentyl glycol (CAS No. 85186-86-3), was performed following the OECD Guideline 301 B (Häner, 2006). Activated sludge from the aeration tank of a municipal waste water treatment plant was used as inoculum. During the 28-day test period, biodegradation reached 90.2%, based on CO2 evolution, and the 10-day window criterion was met.

Hence, Fatty acids, C8-18 and C18-unsatd., esters with neopentyl glycol can be considered readily biodegradable according to OECD criteria.
