Vanadium carbide is not explosive.
In accordance with Regulation (EC) No
1907/2006, Annex VII, Section 7.11, Column 2, testing for explosive
properties is not required for vanadium carbide. Vanadium carbide is
“inert” in the context of explosivity. It is void of any chemical
structures commonly associated with explosive properties, such as metal
peroxides, peroxo-acid-anions, azides, and halogen oxides. Further, it
is noted that despite long-term industrial use of vanadium carbide, it
is not classified for explosive properties according to UN transport
regulations. In addition, long-term industrial experience in practical
handling of vanadium carbide indicates that it is not explosive.
