Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Temperature data
The temperatures which were measured in the experiment are presented in the following table. As many values were recorded, only the values every 60 minutes and relevant values (until the oven had reached the chosen temperature) are presented.

Determination of heating rate
The heating rate was calculated using the following equation:
heating rate = (T2 – T1)/(t2 – t1)

T1 = temperature after 5 minutes in °C

T2 = End temperature in °C

t1 = 5 min

t2 = time at which the end temperature was reached in min

Results and Discussion

An increase in the temperature of the sample in comparison to that of the oven was detected; also signs of ignition were observed. But the increase was below 400 °C.

Therefore, the test item Reaction mass of potassium sodium phosphotartrate and potassium sodium tartrate and potassium sodium ortho-phosphate (solid substance) is considered asshowing no self-ignition up to 400 °Cunder the test conditions.

No observations were made which might cause doubts concerning the validity of the study outcome.

Deviations
Deviations from the Study plan
No deviation from the study plan was ascertained.

Deviations from the Guideline
The following deviation from the guideline was documented:

The heating rate slightly deviated from the value stated in the guideline of 0.5 °C/min

(0.58 °C/min). This is considered as uncritical as a nominal heating rate of 0.5 °C/min was adjusted at the instrument and only a minimal deviation was observed.
