As the boiling tube was heated, evolution of gas was noted from
the body of the liquid, indicating decomposition. It was difficult to
ascertain the onset of this apparent decomposition and DSC was examined
The DSC trace showed an endotherm at approximately 40°C due to
melting of the test substance, followed by a large exotherm (onset
approximately 100˚C), consistent with decomposition of the sample (which
was observed to be a black solid after testing).
The test material decomposes above approx. 100°C before boiling (OECD
103, EU A.2)
The boiling temperature of the test material was not determinable,
as the test substance decomposed at temperatures above approximately
100°C before boiling.
