First-aid measures

FIRST-AID MEASURES

Description of first aid measures

General advice : If you feel unwell, seek medical advice (show the label where possible). First aider needs to protect himself. Move out of dangerous area. Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious person. Take off contaminated clothing and shoes immediately.

Inhalation : If breathed in, move person into fresh air. If symptoms persist, call a physician. Keep patient warm and at rest. If not breathing, give artificial respiration. If breathing is difficult, give oxygen.

Skin contact : In case of contact, immediately flush skin with soap and plenty of water. Do NOT use solvents or thinners. If skin irritation persists, call a physician. Wash off with polyethylene glycol and afterwards with plenty of water.

Eye contact : Protect unharmed eye. If easy to do, remove contact lens, if worn. In the case of contact with eyes, rinse immediately with plenty of water and seek medical advice.

Ingestion : If swallowed, seek medical advice immediately and show this container or label. If swallowed, DO NOT induce vomiting. If a person vomits when lying on his back, place him in the recovery position.

Fire-fighting measures

FIRE-FIGHTING MEASURES

Extinguishing media : Dry sand, Dry chemical, Foam, Carbon dioxide (CO2)

Special hazards arising from the substance or mixture: Do not use a solid water stream as it may scatter and spread fire. Hazardous decomposition products may be formed under fire conditions (see section 'Stability and reactivity"). Exposure to decomposition products may be a hazard to health.

Advice for fire-fighters : In the event of fire, wear self-contained breathing apparatus. Use personal protective equipment.

Further information : Standard procedure for chemical fires. Use extinguishing measures that are appropriate to local circumstances and the surrounding environment. In the event of fire and/or explosion do not breathe fumes. Collect contaminated fire extinguishing water separately. This must not be discharged into drains. Fire residues and contaminated fire extinguishing water must be disposed of in accordance with local regulations.

Accidental release measures

ACCIDENTAL RELEASE MEASURES

Personal precautions, protective equipment and emergency procedures: Refer to protective measures listed below. Use personal protective equipment. Remove all sources of ignition. Avoid dust formation. Avoid breathing dust.

Avoid contact with skin and eyes. Ensure adequate ventilation, especially in confined areas.

Environmental precautions: Do not flush into surface water or sanitary sewer system. If the product contaminates rivers and lakes or drains inform respective authorities.

Methods and material for containment and cleaning up: Use mechanical handling equipment. Clean contaminated surface thoroughly. Nonsparking tools should be used.

Handling and storage

HANDLING AND STORAGE

Precautions for safe handling

Advice on safe handling : For personal protection see "Exposure controls / personal protection". Avoid creating dust. Do not breathe dust. Avoid contact with skin and eyes. Take precautionary measures against static discharges.

Advice on protection against fire and explosion: Normal measures for preventive fire protection. Keep away from heat and sources of ignition. Do not smoke. No sparking tools should be used. Electrical equipment should be protected to the appropriate standard.

Dust explosion class: not applicable

Conditions for safe storage, including any incompatibilities

Requirements for storage areas and containers: Store in original container. Keep containers tightly closed in a dry, cool and wellventilated place. Keep away from heat. Keep away from direct sunlight. Protect from moisture.

Advice on common storage: Keep away from food, drink and animal feedingstuffs.

Other data: No decomposition if stored and applied as directed.

Specific end use(s): No data available.

Exposure controls / personal protection

EXPOSURE CONTROLS/PERSONAL PROTECTION

Control parameters : Contains no substances with occupational exposure limit values.

Exposure controls

Appropriate engineering controls : Provide sufficient air exchange and/or exhaust in work rooms.

Individual protection measures, such as personal protective equipment:

Respiratory protection : In the case of dust or aerosol formation use respirator with an approved filter. Half mask with a particle filter P2 (EN 143).

Hand protection : Wear suitable gloves. Choose gloves to protect hands against chemicals depending on the concentration and quantity of the hazardous substance and specific to place of work.

For special applications, we recommend clarifying the resistance to chemicals of the aforementioned protective gloves with the glove manufacturer.

Eye protection : Safety glasses with side-shields

Skin and body protection: Flame retardant antistatic protective clothing.

Choose body protection according to the amount and concentration of the dangerous substance at the work place.

Hygiene measures : Handle in accordance with good industrial hygiene and safety practice.

General industrial hygiene practice.

Do not breathe dust.

Avoid contact with skin, eyes and clothing.

When using do not eat, drink or smoke.

Wash hands before breaks and at the end of workday.

Follow the skin protection plan.

Wash contaminated clothing before re-use.

Environmental exposure controls : no data available

Stability and reactivity

STABILITY AND REACTIVITY

Reactivity: no data available

Chemical stability: No decomposition if stored and applied as directed.

Possibility of hazardous reactions: no data available

Conditions to avoid: Heat, flames and sparks.

Incompatible materials: no data available

Hazardous decomposition products: Build-up of dangerous/toxic fumes possible in cases of fire/high temperature.

Disposal considerations

DISPOSAL CONSIDERATIONS

Waste treatment methods

Advice on disposal and packaging : Disposal: In accordance with local and national regulations. Do not dispose of waste into sewer. Do not dispose of together with household waste. Waste codes should be assigned by the user based on the application for which the product was used.
