Endpoint:
adsorption / desorption: screening
Data waiving:
study scientifically not necessary / other information available
Justification for data waiving:
the study does not need to be conducted because the substance has a low octanol water partition coefficient and the adsorption potential of this substance is related to this parameter

Description of key information

TMBX hydrolyses to form methanol and boric acid, both of which are toxicologically significant species and the properties for these breakdown products should instead be considered. The respective logPow values for Methanol and Boric Acid are -0.77 and -1.06; these are indicative that absorption/desorption screening is not required for the hydrolysis products of the TMBX in accordance with the rules for adaptation set out in column 2 of Annex VIII 9.3.1
