Modifications to the EU A.16 Method: A heating rate of 1.0-1.2 deg C/min or 0.6 deg C/min is used instead of 0.5 deg C/min due to an alternative Swiss Chemical Industry method and technical restriction of the apparatus used. Cylindric wire baskets with 0.2 mm openings are used.

The sample is heated from room temperature (about 20 deg C) to +/- 120 deg C (nearby the melting point). The sample shows no self-ignition to 400 deg C in the test run.

Conclusions:
In conclusion, the tested substance T001141 is not auto-flammable up to the temperature applied in the test run. The substance has no relative self-ignition temperature.

Description of key information

T001141 is not considered as a self-heating substance based on the negative result obtained at 140°C using a 10 cm sample cube according to the UN N.4 Method (Klimisch 1, Reingruber, 2017), see section 4.13.

Additional information

Supporting information (Klimisch 4, Product Safety Center of Janssen Pharmaceutica N.V., 1990) is available on autoflammability. In a BAM oven test, the minimum ignition temperature was determined to be 460°C. In a Grewer oven test with end temperature 400°C, no self-ignition of the test item was observed, i.e. the substance does not have a relative self-ignition temperature. Clearly, the substance does not need to be considered as autoflammable.
