Description of key information

Data describing the acute aquatic toxicity of 1-Benzyl-3-carbamoyl-pyridinium, chloride to aquatic organisms are available for invertebrates (Daphnia magna) and algae (Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata).

Within an acute toxicity study according to the OECD Guideline 202, the 48-h acute toxicity of 1-Benzyl-3-carbamoyl-pyridinium, chloride to Daphnia magna was studied under semi-static conditions. Daphnids were exposed to the test chemical at nominal concentrations of 0, 12.5, 27.5, 62.5, 133.1 and 292.8 mg/L for 48 h. The 48-h EC50 was 181.7 mg/L.

The toxicity of 1-Benzyl-3-carbamoyl-pyridinium, chloride to cultures of Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata after 72 h (growth inhibition test) was investigated in accordance with the OECD Guideline 201. The test was conducted as limit test with 100 mg/L test substance. The key result after 72 h regarding the growth rate was ErC50 ≥ 100 mg/L.
