Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

No studies on the short-term toxicity to aquatic invertebrates are available for the Acid Brown 355 (ABr355).

Nevertheless, two studies conducted on the structural analogue Acid Brown 282 (ABr282 - Similar Substance 01) are available. The acute toxicity to invertebrates was investigated in two 48 hours tests, in which the following nominal concentrations were tested: 0.1, 1.0, 10 and 100 mg/l. Two vessels were used as vehicle control and further two vessels as blank control. In both cases, the EC50 after 48 hours was recorded as higher than 100 mg/l (Huntsman Textile Effects (Germany) GmbH, 1995 and 1996).

The similar substance is a disodium salt and the main structural difference with the ABr355 is that it presents one sulphoned group less than the ABr355. It is expected that these differences have not significant impact on the short-term toxicity to invertebrates. The read across approach has been further detailed in the report attached to the IUCLID section 13.

A Prediction with the QSAR has beed performed, and the outcome confirm that Acid Brown 355 is not classified for the endpoint Short tem toxicity to acquatic invertebrates.
