According to Annex XIII, a substance is identified as a PBT substance if it fulfils the criteria for persistence, bioaccumulation and toxicity. As all three criteria must be met, 1,3-BAC is not a PBT because it does not meet the toxicity or bioaccumulative criteria. The substance is highly water soluble and has a low log Kow. The substance may meet the criteria for persistence but further testing would be required to confirm. These tests are not necessary because regardless of the result, 1,3-BAC will not meet the PBT or vPvB criteria.

1,3-BAC is not a PBT substance.

Likely routes of exposure:

Not relevant as the substance is not a PBT/vPvB substance.
