Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Testing is not technically feasible as substance is hydrolytically unstable. Therefore, water solubility of the main decomposition product 2-ethylhexanol is used in CSA.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Water solubility:
880 mg/L
at the temperature of:
25 °C

Additional information

Titanium tetrakis(2-ethylhexanolate) is hydrolytically unstable. When it comes in contact with water or moisture, a complete hydrolysis will take place with no significant reaction products other than 2 -ethylhexanol and hydrated titanium dioxide (key study on hydrolysis OECD 111). As the rapid hydrolysis (half-life < 10 minutes) is the driving force for the fate and pathways of the substance, water solubility of 2 -ethylhexanol released in water is used as a key value in CSA (peer-reviewed secondary source Amidon et al. 1974). The non-hazardous degradation product (hydrated titanium dioxide) of the target substance is insoluble in water, and therefore not relevant to be further considered in CSA.
