Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Accumulation in organisms is not to be expected.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

The measured values for logPow determined according to 92/69/EEC, A.8 were 0.21, 0.22 and -0.34 at pH 5, 7 and 9, respectively, indicating no potential for bioaccumulation of bronopol [BASF AG 2002]. The low bioaccumulation potential was confirmed by QSAR calculation (BCFWIN v3.01) resulting in a BCF of 3.162.

Based on the data given, bronopol is not likely to bioaccumulate in aquatic and terrestrial organisms.

Furthermore the relevant metabolites were screened for potential bioaccumulation. The 6 metabolites had BCF values ranging from 2.9 to 3.9 corresponding to low log Pow values. Therefore, there is also no potential for bioaccumualtion regarding the metabolites.
