Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

It has not been possible to determine reliable details of possible metabolic routes as no adverse effects have been noted from testing performed on similar substances. An assessment can be made using data available on the degradation products.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Bioaccumulation potential:
low bioaccumulation potential

Additional information

If swallowed, the substance will quickly hydrolyse to titanium dioxide, triethanolamine, propan-2-ol and propylene glycol. None of these substances are classified as hazardous and although some pH effects from contact with the amine may result in local irritation, this has not been reported from testing.

The substance is a viscous liquid with minimal risk of inhalation. If on contact with skin, it is likely that there will be exposure to the degradation products; none of these are considered harmful to the skin.

From public documents, the organic degradation products will themselves be readily metabolised if ingested and there is little evidence that the titanium dioxide will be absorbed.

For the IUCLD endpoints, a read-across titanate has been cited for some of the endpoints, but other references have also been added.
