Endpoint:
substances / mixtures which in contact with water emit flammable gases
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Reliability:
2 (reliable with restrictions)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
guideline study without detailed documentation
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
EU Method A.12 (Flammability (Contact with Water))
Deviations:
no
GLP compliance:
no
Remarks on result:
no reaction with water observed
Interpretation of results:
other: does not ignite spontaneously with water and did not liberate gases in hazardous amounts
Conclusions:
The substance did not ignite spontaneously with water and did not liberate gases in hazardous amounts.
Executive summary:

The test was performed as stipulated in EC Test Procedure A 12 'Flammability (contact with Water)' and was tested step by step sequence. The substance did not ignite spontaneously with water and did not liberate gases in hazardous amounts.

Endpoint:
flammable liquids: obsolete as covered by section 'Flash point'
Data waiving:
study scientifically not necessary / other information available
Justification for data waiving:
the study does not need to be conducted because the substance is a liquid
Endpoint:
pyrophoric liquids
Data waiving:
other justification
Justification for data waiving:

Description of key information

a.) Flammability: In accordance with section 2 of REACH Annex XI, a study is technically not feasible as the substance is a liquid. The flammability of a liquid is described by the flash point.

b.) Pyrophoric properties: In accordance with section 1 of REACH Annex XI, a study does not need to be conducted as it is scientifically unjustified. Based on experience during handling and use, no pyrophoric properties were observed and the structure does not give a reference to pyrophoric properties.

c.) Contact with water: The substance did not ignite spontaneously with water and did not liberate gases in hazardous amounts (Keldenich, 2014).
