Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

First-aid measures

In case of inhalation: Remove victim to fresh air and keep at rest in a position comfortable for breathing.
As the need arises, seek medical advice.

In case of skin contact: Wash with plenty of water and soap. As the need arises, seek medical advice.

In case of eye contact: Rinse cautiously with water for several minutes. Remove contact lenses, if present and easy to do. Continue rising.

In case of ingestion: Do not induce vomiting. If the victim is conscious and not convulsing, give water or milk to drink, and get immediate medical attention.

Protection for first-aides: Refer to section ‘Exposure controls/personal protection’.

Fire-fighting measures

Flammable limits in air: LEL = not available UEL = not available

Extinguishing media: Carbon dioxide, foam and dry chemical powder.

Extinguishing media to avoid: a water bar.

Fire and explosion hazards: On combustion, generates toxic gases (e.g., carbon monoxide).

Fire-fighting equipment: Wear positive pressure self-contained breathing apparatus. Wear full protective clothing.

Accidental release measures

Wear protections (e.g., protective gloves, spectacles and gas respirator) during work.
Prevent the spilled material entering into river or sewers. Use tools not to spark.
Recover with a vacuum cleaner, broom and others.
Remove in order not to scatter dust.
Use explosion-proof electrical (ventilating, lighting and material handling) equipment.

Handling and storage

Caution: Combustible dusts.

Handling: Establish a washing equipment for eyes and body near the handling area.
Ventilate a work area enough.
Wear a dustproof mask in order not to breather dust.
Minimize dust generation and accumulation.
Routine housekeeping should be instituted to ensure that dusts do not accumulate on surfaces.
Dry powders can build static electricity charges when subjected to the friction of transfer and mixing operations. Provide adequate precautions, such as electrical grouding and bonding, or inert atmospheres.
Use explosion-proof and anti-electrostatic equipments.
Wear adequate protections (e.g., protective gloves and goggles, etc).
Wash thoroughly hands, face, etc., and gargle after handling.

Storage: Store container tightly closed in well-ventilated place.

Exposure controls / personal protection

Engineering controls: Local exhaust ventilation may be necessary.

Exposure limit:
[Particles (insoluble or poorly soluble)] ACGIH (2014) TWA 10 mg/m^3
[Total dust] OSHA PEL 15 mg/m^3

Personal protection
Respiratory protection: In dust atmospheres, use an approved dustproof mask.
Hand protection: Rubber gloves.
Eye protection: Protective goggles.
Skin protection: Anti-electrostatic work clothes.

Stability and reactivity

Stability: Stable under normal storage and handling conditions.
Reactivity: On heating with alkaline-substance, decomposes forming soap.
Hazardous decomposition products: carbon monoxide.

Disposal considerations

May be burned in an adequate incinerator in accordance with all applicable regulations.
Any disposal practice must be in compliance with local, state, and federal laws and regulations (contact local or state environmental agency for specific rules).
