The substance is characterized by a water solubility of < 1.51 mg/L at 20 °C (OECD 105), a vapour pressure of 0.588 Pa at 25 °C (EpiSuite v4.11) and a log Koc of 4.08 - 13.1 (EpiSuite v4.11). Thus, if the substance is released to the environment it has a high potential for adsorption to sediment and soil particles. Hydrolysis is not considered to be a relevant degradation pathway since QSAR calculations do not indicate a fast hydrolysis under environmental conditions. Moreover, sterical hindrance of the glycosidic bond by fatty acids does not allow for significant hydrolysis. Thus, the substance is considered to be hydrolytically stable in the environment. Significant biodegradation by activated sludge microorganisms is not expected. 19-28% degradation was recorded in a standard biodegradation study according to OECD 301D and 66.6% degradation was observed in an inherent biodegradation study according to OECD 302C. Thus, the substance is primary biodegradable but not readily biodegradable according to the OECD criteria. Even though the substance is stable in the environment, bioaccumulation is considered to be low based on the log Pow values of the different constituents of the UVCB substance.
