Registration Dossier

Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

First-aid measures

Emergency measure - Inhalation: Remove from source of exposure to fresh air. Keep warm and
at rest. If breathing is difficult give oxygen. Seek
medical attention.
Emergency measure - Eyes: Immediately flush eyes with copious amounts of water for
several minutes, lifting eyelids to irrigate. If irritation
persists seek medical attention.
Emergency measure - Skin: Remove contaminated clothing. Flush skin with copious
amounts of water and then wash with soap. If irritation
persists seek medical attention.
Emergency measure - Ingestion: Do not induce vomiting. Rinse mouth out with copious
amounts of water. Seek medical attention.

Fire-fighting measures

Recommended extinguishing agent: Water spray, carbon dioxide and foam are the recommended
extinguishing agents.

Product arising from burning: Carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide and nitrogen oxides.

Product determined by test: N

Protective equipment: Fire fighters should wear full protective clothing and
breathing apparatus.

Accidental release measures

Emergency measures in case of spillage: Collect all spilled material and place in a closed container
for disposal.

Small amounts of the substance can be sent to the waste
water treatment facility. Large amounts should be sent for
incineration. The affected area can be washed down with
water and the washings sent to the on-site waste water
treatment plant. All clean up workers should wear
appropriate personal protective equipment.

Handling and storage

Handling: Primary protection is by engineering controls with local
exhaust ventilation for dust capture. Workers should wear
appropriate personal protective equipment including natural
rubber or neoprene gloves, disposable chemical suits and a
face mask eqipped with a P3 dust filter.

Storage: The substance should be stored in a cool, dry,
well-ventilated place in metal drums with a double
polyethylene liner. Keep the containers tightly closed and
away from sources of ignition.

Packaging of the substance and or preparation: 60 litre metal drums containing two antistatic polyethylene
bags.

Disposal considerations

Industry - Possibility of recovery/recycling: If the substance is out of specifications, it can be
reprocessed by crystallisation, according to a validated
method.

Any spilled material should be collected and sent for
incineration.

Industry - Possibility of neutralisation: Not applicable.

Industry - Possibility of destruction: controlled discharge: Not recommended.

Industry - Possibility of destruction - incineration: This is the preferred method of treatment. Mix the test
material with a combustible solvent and burn in a chemical
incinerator equipped with an afterburner and scrubber.

Industry - Possibility of destruction - water purification: Not recommended at present.

Public at large - Possibility of recovery/recycling: Not applicable.
