Data generated on the sodium salt and similar classes of substance show rapid biodegradability. However, these substances are stable in water and are supplied as aqueous mixtures and used at a range of pH values.
As the substance is surface active, some adsorption to soils and sediments will occur, but the high water solubility will favour retention in the aqueous phase.
