Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

First-aid measures

Eye contact: Immediately irrigate with eyewash solution or clean water, holding the eyelids apart, for at least 15 minutes. Obtain medical attention.

Inhalation: Remove patient form exposure. Apply artificial respiration if breathing has ceased or showed signs of failing. Obtain medical attention.

Skin Contact: Wash immediately with water followed by soap and water.

Ingestion: Do not induce vomiting. Provided the patient is conscious, wash out the mouth with water and if available give plenty of milk to drink, otherwise give 200~300ml (half a pint) of water to drink. Obtain immediate medical attention.

Protection of first-aiders: No action shall be taken involving any personal risk or without suitable training.

Fire-fighting measures

Use an extinguishing agent suitable for surrounding fire. Decomposition products may contain carbon dioxide and carbon mono-oxide.

Accidental release measures

Personal precautions, protective equipment and emergency procedures:

Evacuate the area.  Provided it is safe to do so, isolate the source of the leak.  Ensure suitable personal protection (including respiratory protection) during removal of spillages.

Environment precautions:

Avoid dispersal of spilt material and runoff and contact with soil, waterways, drains and sewers. Inform the relevant authorities if the product has caused environmental pollution (sewers, waterways, soil or air).

Methods and material for containment and cleaning up:

Contain spillages with sand, earth or any suitable adsorbent material.  Transfer to a lidded container for disposal.  Wash the spillage area with water.

Handling and storage

Precautions for safe handling:

Avoid contact with skin and eyes. When using does not eat, drink or smoke. Wash hands and exposed skin after use.

Conditions for safe storage, including any incompatibilities:

Keep container tightly closed, in a cool, well ventilated place.

Exposure controls / personal protection

Appropriate engineering controls: Use with adequate ventilation.

Use process enclosures, local exhaust ventilation or other engineering controls to keep worker exposure to airborne contaminants below any recommended or statutory limits.

Individual protection measures

Hygiene measures: Wash hands, forearms and face thoroughly after handling chemical products, before eating, smoking and using the lavatory and at the end of the working period. Appropriate techniques should be used to remove potentially contaminated clothing. Wash contaminated clothing before reusing. Ensure that eyewash stations and safety showers are close to the workstation location.

Eye/face protection: Safety eyewear (goggles or safety glasses with side shields) complying with an approved standard (EN 166).

Hand protection: Chemical-resistant, impervious gloves complying with an approved standard (EN 374) should be worn at all times when handling chemical products.

Other skin protection: Appropriate footwear and protective apron or clothing.

Respiratory protection: Use a properly fitted, air-purifying or air-fed respirator complying with an approved standard. Respirator selection must be based on known or anticipated exposure levels, the hazards of the product and the safe working limits of the selected respirator.

Environmental exposure controls: Emissions from ventilation or work process equipment should be checked to ensure they comply with the requirements of environmental protection legislation. In some cases, fume scrubbers, filters or engineering modifications to the process equipment will be necessary to reduce emissions to acceptable levels.

Stability and reactivity

The product is stable. Under normal conditions of storage and use, hazardous reactions will not occur. No specific test data related to reactivity available for this product or its ingredients.

Disposal considerations

The generation of waste should be avoided or minimised wherever possible. Significant quantities of waste product residues should not be disposed of via the foul sewer but processed in a suitable effluent treatment plant. The only suitable method for disposal of waste products is by controlled incineration in a furnace, which should be carried out by authorised waste disposal contractors.
