Reference
Endpoint:
solubility in organic solvents / fat solubility
Remarks:
Solubility in n-Octanol
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Study period:
2021
Reliability:
1 (reliable without restriction)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
test procedure in accordance with generally accepted scientific standards and described in sufficient detail
Principles of method if other than guideline:
The n-octanol solubility of substances with an expected high solubility is normally determined analogous to the flask method described in the OECD Guideline for the Testing of Chemicals
105 (determination of water solubility). To apply this method, the preparation of a saturated solution of test item in n-octanol is required. This is not feasible for test items with a very high or
complete solubility/miscibility, therefore, a homemade method described in the external method EM/00408/01 from Competence Center Analytics, BASF SE (chapter 4: visual method) was applied to investigate complete miscibility.

Determination
Miscibility of two materials is often determined optically. When the two miscible liquids are combined, the resulting liquid is clear
GLP compliance:
no
Key result
Medium:
n-octanol
Solubility:
869
Temp.:
20 °C
Details on results:
The n-octanol solubility of the test item was determined to be > 99.9 g/100 g which equals a concentration of 869 g/L in relation to the total volume of the mixture
Therefrom, it was concluded that the test item is most probably miscible with n-octanol at room temperature (T = 23 °C) and at T = 20.0 °C ± 0.5 °C in any ratio.
Details refer to the attached fully study report
Conclusions:
The n-octanol solubility of the test item was determined to be > 99.9 g/100 g which equals a concentration of 869 g/L in relation to the total volume of the mixture
Therefrom, it was concluded that the test item is most probably miscible with n-octanol at room temperature (T = 23 °C) and at T = 20.0 °C ± 0.5 °C in any ratio.
