Description of key information

Guideline studies indicate that 3-methoxybutan-1-ol is not irritating to skin or eye. There are no reports of respiratory irritation.

Additional information

Modern guideline studies indicate that 3-methoxybutan-1-ol is not irritating to the skin or eye (Hoechst 1991b & c).   There are no reports of respiratory irritation from repeat dose inhalation studies (Hoechst, 1964b).

Justification for classification or non-classification

According to criteria in Regulation (EC) No.1272/2008, the substance is not classified for skin, eye or respiratory tract irritation. Available data indicate that 3-methoxybutan-1-ol does not warrant classification as irritating to the skin, eyes or respiratory tract.
