First-aid measures

General advice: Obtain medical attention.

If inhaled: Move to fresh air. If breathing is irregular or stopped, administer artificial respiration. Call a physician immediately.

In case of skin contact: Remove immediately adhering matter. Remove contaminated clothing and shoes. Wash off immediately with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes. Call a physician immediately.

In case of eye contact: In case of eye contact, remove contact lens and rinse immediately with plenty of water, also under the eyelids, for at least 15 minutes. Call a physician immediately.

If swallowed: Clean mouth with water and drink afterwards plenty of water. Do not induce vomiting. Call a physician immediately.

Notes to physician:

 Hazards: Causes burns

 Symptoms: Irritation and corrosion, lachrymation.

 Treatment: Treat symptomatically.

Fire-fighting measures

Suitable extinguishing media: Carbon dioxide (CO2), dry powder, foam, water spray

Extinguishing media which must not be used for safety reasons: Do not use a solid water stream as it may scatter and spread fire.

Special exposure hazards arising from the substance or preparation itself, its combustion products, or released gases: Gaseous hydrogen chloride (HCl), carbon oxides, nitrogen oxides (NOx)

Special protective equipment for firefighting: Personal protection through wearing a tightly closed chemical protection suit and a self-contained breathing apparatus.

Accidental release measures

Personal precautions: In the case of respirable dust, use self-contained breathing apparatus. Keep people away from and upwind of spill/leak.

Environmental precautions: Knock down dust with water spray jet. Prevent spreading over a wide area (e.g. by containment or oil barriers). Avoid subsoil penetration. Do not flush into surface water or sanitary sewer system.

Methods for cleaning up: Use mechanical handling equipment. Avoid dust formation. Flush away traces with water.

Handling and storage

This substance is handled under Strictly Controlled Conditions in accordance with REACH regulation Article 17 (3) for on-site isolated intermediates and, in case the substance is transported to other sites for further processing, the substance should be handled at these sites under the Strictly Controlled Conditions as specified in REACH regulation Article 18 (4). Site documentation to support safe handling arrangements including the selection of engineering, administrative and personal protective equipment controls in accordance with risk-based management systems is available at each Manufacturing site.

Written confirmation of application of Strictly Controlled Conditions has been received from every affected Distributor and Downstream Manufacturer/User of the Registrant's intermediate.

Advice on safe handling: Avoid contact with skin, eyes and clothing. Avoid dust formation. Open drum carefully as content may be under pressure.

Advice on protection against fire and explosion: Take precautionary measures against static discharges. Avoid dust formation. Keep away from heat and sources of ignition.

Storage space and container requirements: Keep containers tightly closed in a dry, cool and well-ventilated place.
