Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Not flammable on the basis of negative flash point tests.  Substance is a liquid at room temperature, therefore classification should be based on flash point, rather than on flammability (solids) tests.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Flammability:
non flammable

Additional information

Justification for classification or non-classification

2-Bromo-3,3,3-trifluoropropene is a liquid at room temperature, so classification for flammability endpoints is based on the flash point and boiling point. In two separate flash point tests, no evidence of combustion was observed; in one of the tests, the sample vapour even appeared to extinguish the tester flame (please refer to the flashpoint endpoint and study summaries for further details). These observations are consistent with the substance's intended use as a fire extinguishing agent.

On the basis that 2 -bromo-3,3,3 -trifluoropropene does not appear to be combustible, it is concluded that there is no justification for classification as flammable under either the CLP Regulation, or the Dangerous Substances Directive.
