First-aid measures

Emergency measure - Inhalation: Remove subject to fresh air. If breathing has stopped apply
artificial respiration. Seek immediate medical attention.
Emergency measure - Eyes: Rinse eye(s) immediately with plenty of fresh water for

15 - 20 minutes. Seek urgent medical attention.
Emergency measure - Skin: Wash affected area with plenty of clean water. Seek medical
attention if irritation occurs.
Emergency measure - Ingestion: Do NOT induce vomiting. Seek urgent medical attention.

Fire-fighting measures

Recommended extinguishing agent: As appropriate for underlying cause of fire.

( e.g. Water, carbon dioxide, dry chemical or foam)

Product arising from burning: Carbon monoxide

Carbon dioxide

SQ 26999 will not undergo hazardous polymerisation.

Product determined by test: N

Protective equipment: Standard fire-fighting equipment should be worn along with
self-contained breathing apparatus, and full (impervious)
protective clothing.

Accidental release measures

Emergency measures in case of spillage: Protective clothing should be worn including rubber or
plastic gloves, safety spectacles/goggles and an appropriate
respirator. Vacuum or sweep up powder, minimising dust and
transfer solid waste to a suitable, sealable container. The
spillage site should then be washed with water.

Handling and storage

Handling: Care should be taken to avoid skin and eye contact and
gloves and safety goggles or spectacles should be worn. A
high efficiency particulate filter respirator (approved to
EN136 standard) should also be worn as SQ 26999 is a fine
powder and inhalation of dust should be avoided. Use local
exhaust ventilation to minimise dust production.

Storage: SQ 26999 should be stored in sealed fibre drums, with
antiseptic liners. Materials should be stored in a cool,
dry environment and protected from air, moisture and heat.

Disposal considerations

Industry - Possibility of recovery/recycling: SQ 26999 is consumed in the drug synthesis reaction in which
it is employed. Significant residual levels in reactor
effluent are not expected. No practical method of recovery
or recycling is known.

Industry - Possibility of neutralisation: No method of chemical neutralisation is known.

Industry - Possibility of destruction: controlled discharge: Not recommended.

Industry - Possibility of destruction - incineration: Acceptable method provided that a closed-cycle incinerator
with scrubbers is employed. National regulations must be

Method A: 661

Industry - Possibility of destruction - water purification: Not recommended

Industry - Possibility of destruction - other: None.

Public at large - Possibility of recovery/recycling: SQ 26999 is not intended for public use, as it is a
pharmaceutical intermediate which will be consumed during
the drug synthesis reaction.

Public at large - Possibility of neutralisation: Not applicable (See Section A6.2.1).
