Endpoint:
explosive properties of explosives
Data waiving:
study scientifically not necessary / other information available
Justification for data waiving:
the study does not need to be conducted because there are no chemical groups present in the molecule which are associated with explosive properties

Description of key information

From the assessment of the chemical structure it was established that Aliphaticdiol diglycidyl ether would not have explosive properties.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Explosiveness:
non explosive

Additional information

The chemical structure was reviewed with reference to a list of structural features published in Appendix 6 of the United Nations "Recommendations on the Transport of Dangerous Goods, Manual of Tests and Criteria"; it was conlcuded that no chemical functional groups associated with explosive properties were present in the substance, and therefore an experimental assessment was not required.

Justification for classification or non-classification

On the basis of an assessment of the chemical structure of Aliphaticdiol diglycidyl ether it was concluded that the material would not posess explosive properties. It is therefore considered that Aliphaticdiol diglycidyl ether does not meet the criteria for classification as explosive.
