Key result
Surface tension:
64.1 mN/m
Temp.:
20 °C
Conc.:
178 g/L
Conclusions:
The surface tension of the test item was determined using a tensiometer. The calibration factor of the tensiometer was calculated to be 1.004 (72.8 mN/m/ 72.5 mN/m).The surface tension of the test item in water (215 mg/L) was determined to be 61.8 mN/m at 20 °C.
Executive summary:

A study was conducted according to Regulation (EC) No 440/2008 method A.5, OECD TG 115 and DIN EN 14370. The ring method was conducted. The specific calibration factor of the tensiometer was determined using water at 20 degree C to be 1.004. Six replicate measures with an equilibration time of 15 min were conducted to assure there is no time dependency of the measurement. The surface tension of potassium hexadecyl hydrogen phosphate was determined of an aqueous solution of the test item at 90 % of the saturation concentration at 215 mg/L. The surface tension the test item in water (215 mg/L) was determined to be 61.8 mN/m at 20 °C.

Description of key information

The surface tension of potassium hexadecyl hydrogen phosphate in water (178 mg/L) was determined to be 64.1 mN/m at 20 °C.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Surface tension:
64.1
in mN/m at 20°C and concentration in mg/L:
