Registration Dossier

Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Administrative data

First-aid measures

Emergency measure - Inhalation: Not applicable.

Emergency measure - Eyes: HNF is not irritative to eyes, rince with water to remove

HNF.

Emergency measure - Skin: HNF is not irritative to skin, remove dry material and wash

skin or dab with wetted (paper)cloth.

Emergency measure - Ingestion: The oral toxicity LD(50) = 128 mg/kg body weight:

Drink water and provoke vomiting.

Fire-fighting measures

Recommended extinguishing agent: Water, carbondioxide, dry chemical extinguishers.

Product arising from burning: Nitrogenoxides      (NOx)

Carbondioxides      (CO2)

Water               (H2O)

WARNING:

If during burning of HNF pressure build up is allowed,

burning can take an explosive character because of the high

burning exponent of HNF (exp > 1).

Product determined by test: N

Protective equipment: Standard fire fighting  protective equipment.

Accidental release measures

Emergency measures in case of spillage: Gather solid crystals with a spoon or spatula in a

container. Remove rest spillage with wetted (paper)cloth.

In case of substantial spillage use breathing protection

(s.a. gas mask) and protective clothing.

Although HNF is not considered to be susceptable to

static electricity, it is recommended to use conductive

measures (heel straps or wrist bracelets).

Keep contaminated (paper)cloth wetted during storage and

dispose of as chemical waste.

Handling and storage

Handling: Avoid exposure of HNF to elevated temperatures, elevated

pressures, shock, impact or friction.

Storage: Storage of HNF preferably under cool and dark conditions.

Packaging of the substance and or preparation: Transport of HNF will be according to ADR as:

Salt of hydrazine (33 w% solution in water)

Class : 6.1

Number: 64c

Package is a "compound package" consisting out of:

- inner package:

dark brown glass bottle not exceeding a content of 5

liter.

- outer package:

cardboard box with foam serving as shock absorber.

Exposure controls / personal protection

Stability and reactivity

Danger other than fire: If during burning of HNF pressure build up is allowed,

burning can take an explosive character because of the high

burning exponent of HNF (exp > 1)

Chemical reaction with water: Dissolving reaction:

HNF + water     --->    N2H5(+) + C(NO2)3(-)    DH > 0

Dust explosion: No data, but not likely

Dust explosion determined by test: N
