Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Three studies are available on the toxicity of Nitroethane to Daphnia. The acute toxicity at 48h was evaluated as an additional endpoint of the chronic toxicity study on Daphnia magna. Two further studies are available, however provide limited or no information on the exposure levels, their analytical verification and effects observed, thus were disregarded from the assessment.

Additional information

Immobilisation was assessed as part of a chronic toxicity test on Daphnia magna. No immobilisation of Daphids were observed at the highest tested concentration after 48h of exposure, hence the EC50 is greater than 21.9 mg/L mean measured concentration.

Two further studies are available, however provide limited or no information on the exposure levels, their analytical verification and effects observed, thus were disregarded from the assessment. Both studies report effect very low toxicity (EC50= 1188mg/L, EC50= 848 mg/L).
