Registration Dossier

Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

First-aid measures

Description of first aid measures

General advice

Remove all soiled, soaked clothing and footwear immediately.

Inhalation

Remove to fresh air. If symptoms persist, call a physician.

Skin contact

Wash off immediately with plenty of water.

Eye contact

Rinse thoroughly with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes and consult a physician.

Ingestion

Rinse out mouth and spit out the liquid. If person remains conscious, immediately give them a lot

of water to drink. In the case of spontaneous vomiting, hold person's head low to prevent inhalation into the wind-pipe. Call a physician immediately.

4.2 Most important symptoms and effects, both acute and delayed

Lung: irritation causing coughing

Eyes: Depending on the concentration conjunctivitis to severe chemical burn of the cornea/necrosis, iritis.

Ingestion: Depending on the concentration irritation to severe chemical burn of the affected

esophageal, gastric and intestinal mucosa (risk of perforation!), cardiac reaction, respiratory distress, acid-base balance disorders, cramps.

Skin: Irritation up to chemical burn of the contacted mucous membrane

4.3 Indication of any immediate medical attention and special treatment needed

Symptomatic treatment.

Irritation of the skin and mucus membranes can be treated with corticosteroids.

Provided there are no signs of esophageal and gastric perforation, an immediate gastric lavage

using a large-bore gastric probe is useful (leave probe until at the hospital). Subsequent administration of charcoal powder useful.

Take preventive measures against aspiration (intubation if necessary).

With respiratory and pulmonary damages as well as large-area chemical skin burns antibiotic

prophylaxis useful.

Fire-fighting measures

5.1 Extinguishing media

Dry powder

Foam

Water spray jet

Carbon dioxide (CO2)

5.2 Special hazards arising from the substance or mixture

In the event of fire it can be released:

Sulfur oxides (SOx)

carbon monoxide (CO)

Exposure to decomposition products may be a hazard to health.

5.3 Advice for firefighters

Special protective equipment for firefighters

In the event of fire, wear self-contain

Accidental release measures

6.1 Personal precautions, protective equipment and emergency procedures

Ensure adequate ventilation.

Use personal protective equipment.

Evacuate personnel to safe areas.

6.2 Environmental precautions

Should not be released into the environment.

Do not flush into surface water or sanitary sewer system.

6.3 Methods and materials for containment and cleaning up

Soak up with inert absorbent material (e.g. sand, silica gel, acid binder, universal binder, sawdust)

Handling and storage

7.1 Precautions for safe handling

Advice on safe handling : Avoid contact with skin and eyes.

Do not breathe vapours or spray mist.

7.2 Conditions for safe storage, including any incompatibilities

Requirements for storage

areas and containers

: Store in original container.

Keep containers tightly closed in a dry, cool and wellventilated place.

No metallic containers

Advice on common storage : Keep away from oxidising agents and alkaline materials in

order to avoid exothermic reactions..

Keep away from metals.

Never allow product to get in contact with water during storage

Exposure controls / personal protection

Engineering measures

The product must be handeled in closed plants.

8.2.1 Occupational exposure controls

Personal protective equipment

a) Respiratory protection : In the case of insufficient exhaustion/ventilation, suitable respiratory equipment should be used.

gas filter type A

Follow the instructions for use issued by the producer.

b) Hand protection : Protective gloves of:

Nitrile latex / Layer thickness 0,4 mm / Break through time >

480 min (level 6) / EN 374

Polychloroprene / Layer thickness 0,5 - 0,7 mm / Break

through time > 480 min (level 6) / EN 374-3

General recommendation: the usage time for protective

gloves is approx. 50% of the breakthrough time measured in

the laboratory.

c) Eye protection : Tightly fitting safety goggles

Face-shield

d) Skin and body protection

: Protective suit

Rubber or plastic apron

Safety shoes

e) Hygiene measures : Take off contaminated clothing.

Handle in accordance with good industrial hygiene and safetypractice.

General industrial hygiene practice.

Avoid contact with the skin and the eyes.

Do not breathe vapours or spray mist.

8.2.2 Environmental exposure controls

General advice : Should not be released into the environment.

Do not flush into surface water or sanitary sewer system.

Stability and reactivity

Keep away from oxidizing agents.

Keep away from alkaline agents in order to avoid exothermic reactions.

Incompatible with some metals (e.g. Zn, Cu).

Disposal considerations

Waste from residues / unused products

Do not discharge product unmonitored into the environment.

Must be disposed of as hazardous waste according to the national legal regulations.

Can be incinerated, when in compliance with local regulations.

Disposal of contaminated packaging

Packaging that cannot be cleaned should be disposed of like the product.

Suitable cleaning agents

water

Waste Code

16 05 08 : discarded organic chemicals consisting of or containing dangerous substances

Additional advice

The allocation of waste key numbers must be conducted according to specific industrial sectors

and processes
