Justification for type of information:
An expert assessment was carried out based on the partition coefficients of the degradation products of the registered substance.
Qualifier:
no guideline required
Principles of method if other than guideline:
An expert assessment was carried out based on the partition coefficients of the degradation products of the registered substance.

Type:
log Pow
Partition coefficient:
ca. 0.22 - ca. 0.63
Remarks on result:
other: see 'details on results'
Details on results:
An expert assessment was carried out based on the partition coefficients of the degradation products of the registered substance. In accordance with Column 2 of REACH Annex VII and the ECHA guidance documents on information requirements, a partition coefficient study does not need to be conducted because the substance decomposes rapidly and reliable data was available for the hydrolysis products. The Log Kow of acetaldehyde and chloroacetic acid were found to be 0.63 and 0.22 respectively.
Conclusions:
The Log Kow of acetaldehyde and chloroacetic acid were found to be 0.63 and 0.22 respectively.
Executive summary:

An expert assessment was carried out based on the partition coefficients of the degradation products of the registered substance. In accordance with Column 2 of REACH Annex VII and the ECHA guidance documents on information requirements, a partition coefficient study does not need to be conducted because VCA has been shown to hydrolyse rapidly, and reliable data was available for the degradation products. The Log Kow of acetaldehyde and chloroacetic acid were found to be 0.63 and 0.22 respectively.
