Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Aquatic invertebrates

No acute toxicity data on invertebrate was available but a long-term test was performed with di-tert-amyl peroxide according to the OECD Guideline 211 and GLP requirements. In this test a 21 d NOEC of 1.2 mg/L was measured and a 21d EC10 of 1.6 mg/L.

Algae

The determination of the growth inhibition of the freshwater algae Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata exposed to the test item Di-tert-amyl peroxide for a duration of 72 hours was assessed according to the OECD Guideline 201 (limit test at 200 mg/L): Di-tert-amyl peroxide has no effect on algae up to its water solubility limit.

Microorganisms

The toxic effects to microorganisms of this substance are obtained for an activated sludge respiration inhibition test according to the OECD 209 guideline. The NOEC was determined to be > 1000 mg/L based on nominal concentration.

Fish

A acute toxicity test was performed with di-tert-amyl peroxide given an 96h-LC50 =2.89 mg/L.

Based on these studies, EC10 value of daphnia is used for the PNEC derivation and the risk assessment.

According to ECHA guidance on information requirements and chemical safety assessment (v1.2, November 2012), Chapter r7b and to the integrated testing strategy, the chronic Daphnia study was conducted first. Based on the results of the chronic Daphnia test and the application of a relevant assessment factor no risks are observed (PEC/PNEC<1), no long term fish test may be conducted. A chronic Daphnia test result is available, and the results of the chemical risk assessment indicate no risk to the environment, thus the long term fish test is waived.
