Short-term toxicity to fish

Reliable results are available from a study conducted according to OECD guideline.

The acute toxicity of Trigonox K-95 to rainbow trout was investigated in a study conducted according to OECD Guideline 203 (Fish, Acute Toxicity Test) under semi-static conditions for 96 h. The concentration of acetone used to dissolve the test chemical was 0.1 mL/L. Analytical monitoring of test substance concentration was not performed. The 96 h NOEC, LC50 and LC100 were determined to be 1.5, 3.9, and 6 mg/L nominal. These findings are supported by the results obtained in a study conducted according to Mann (1975, 1976) and Deutsches Einheitsverfahren zur Wasser-, Abwasser- und Schlamm-Untersuchung L 15: Fischtest (Leuciscus idus melanotus.48 h LC50=14 mg/L nominal).

Short-term toxicity to aquatic invertebrates

Reliable results from studies conducted according to guideline and or conducted according or similar to a national standard method are available.

The acute toxicity of cumene hydroperoxide to Daphnia magna was investigated in a study conducted according to OECD Guideline 202 (Daphnia sp. Acute Immobilisation Test) and EU Method C.2 under GLP conditions. The stability of the test substance was investigated via HPLC/UV-VIS. The 48 h NOEC, LOEC, and EC50 were determined to be 9.15, 18.23, and 18.84 mg/L based on geometric mean measured concentrations.

In two studies conducted according or similar to the German DIN 38412, Part 11 (draft), 24 h EC50 values in the range between 6 and 7 mg/L nominal were determined.

Toxicity to aquatic algae

In a reliable study (Klimisch 1), the 72h EC50 (growth rate) of cumyl hydroperoxide to Scenedesmus subspicatus was 3,1mg/L. The NOEC was 1,0 mgll for growth rate.

Toxicity to microorganisms

Pseudomonas putida was exposed for 16 h to cumene hydroperoxide under static conditions. In the cell multiplication inhibition test, a TT (EC3)>50 mg/L nominal was obtained. In a cell multiplication inhibition test using Entosiphon sulcatum Stein, Chilomonas paramaecium, and Uronema parduczi as test organisms, a 72 h-TT (EC5)=8.5 mg/L (Entosiphon s.), a 48 h TT (EC5)=0.91 mg/L (Chilomonas p.), and a 20 h TT (EC5)=0.35 mg/L (Uronema p.; nominal Each) were determined.
