Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

In accordance with Section 2 of Annex XI of the Regulation (EC) No. 1907/2006 (REACH), the testing required under point 9.3.1 of Annex VIII and point 9.3.3 of Annex IX may be omitted, if testing is technically not possible as a consequence of the properties of the substance. The test material is known to be hydrolytically unstable at pH 4, 7 and 9. In the submitted study, the test material was observed to immediately hydrolyse to dioctyltin oxide (insoluble) and lauric acid in the presence of water. Based on these findings, testing for this endpoint is not technically possible. Furthermore, calculation of the adsorption coefficient is not appropriate for organotin substances, as there is currently no QSAR or QSPR validated for such an estimation.
