Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

No adsorption onto the organic fraction of soils or sediments is expected due to the ionic structure under environmental relevant pH conditions. Further more, the substance is readily biodegradable and significant exposure of organisms living in the benthic compartment to the Reaction mass of (Gluconate)3Fe-Na3 and NaCl is considered negligible.

Therefore no ecotoxicity tests have been performed for the benthic compartment because exposure of sediment is considered to be negligible.

Because the sediment organisms will only be exposed via the aquatic compartment (pore water) the risk for sediment organisms will be equal to the risk for aquatic organisms.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

Based on the intrinsic properties of reaction mass of (Gluconate)3Fe-Na3 and NaCl i.e. the relatively low sediment-water partition coefficient and ready biodegradability of the reaction mass of (Gluconate)3Fe-Na3 and NaCl3 the substance will not partition to the sediment compartment. Risk to sediment organisms can be considered equal to the risk to aquatic organisms.
