First-aid measures

-Inhalation: Remove from exposure to fresh air. Provide rest and warmth, keep in half-upright position. Get medical attention if any discomfort continues.

-Ingestion: Rinse mouth. Get medical aid.

-Skin contact: Remove contaminated clothing. Wash skin with plenty of soap and water.

-Eye contact: Flush eyes with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes, while lifting the upper and lower eyelids.  Get medical aid if irriation occurs.

-Information for a doctor or other professionals giving first aid

Fire-fighting measures

-Suitable extinguishing media: Water, foam, powder, dry sand

-Extinguishing media which shall not be used for safety reasons: None.

-Special exposure hazards in a fire: Fire can generate toxic or caustic oxides.

-Special protective equipment for fire-fighters: Wear a self-contained breathing apparatus and full protective gear.

-Other instructions: Product in itself is not combustible

Accidental release measures

-Personal precautions: Prevent formation and spreading of dust. Wear personal protection. Instructions about protective equipment in Section 8.

-Environmental precautions: The heavy metals in product are dangerous for the environment. Do not release the product in soil, waterways or drains.

-Methods for cleaning up: Sweep spilled substance into containers; if appropriate, moisten first to prevent dusting.

-Flush the area with plenty of water.

-Other instructions

Handling and storage

-Handling: Finely dispersed or grained particles from a dry product may form explosive mixtures in air: dust explosion possible. Prevent deposition of dust; closed system, dust explosion-proof electrical equipment and lighting. Keep away from heat, sparks and open flame.  It is forbidden to eat, drink and smoke when handling this substance.

-Storage: Keep separate from strong oxidizers and strong acids.

Exposure controls / personal protection

Occupational exposure controls

Avoid breathing of dust. If possible, indoors use local exhaust extraction and efficient exhaust ventilation.

Keep away from food, drink and tobacco.

-Respiratory protection: In dusty conditions use respiratory protector (P2 filter respirator for harmful particles).

-Hand protection: Wear suitable protective gloves.

-Eye protection: Safety goggles.

-Skin protection: Use protective clothing.

-Environmental exposure controls: Do not release in soil, waterways or drains.

Stability and reactivity

-Conditions to avoid: Stable if the recommended conditions for use and storage are applied.

-Materials to avoid: Oxidizing agents and strong acids.

-Hazardous decomposition products: Thermal decomposition starts at 105-113 °C. Oxidation of elemental sulphur and fine-grained sulphides starts at 224 °C. On combustion and high temperatures, forms toxic and corrosive gases of sulfur oxides.

Disposal considerations

Hazardous waste.

EWC code  06 06 02* : wastes from the MFSU of sulphur chemicals, sulphur chemical processes and desulphurisation processes: wastes containing dangerous sulphides.

Disposal in accordance with local regulations.
