Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

Since no studies investigating the toxicity to aquatic algae of DiPE triisononanoate triethylhexanoate (CAS No. 68443-84-5) are available for this endpoint, in accordance to Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006 Annex XI, 1.5 a read across to the structurally similar analogue member Dipentaerythritol with fatty acids, C5 and C9iso (CAS 647028-25-9) was conducted. This read-across is justified in detail in the overall summary (IUCLID chapter 6.1) and within the analogue justification in IUCLID Section 13. The read across is justified based on common breakdown products, similar physico-chemical properties, environmental fate, toxicological and ecotoxicological properties.

The study with the source substance DiPE with fatty acids, C5 and C9 iso was performed according to OECD 201 under GLP conditions (Mead and Mullee, 2000). Scenedesmus subspicatus was exposed to a water accommodated fraction (WAF) with a limit concentration of 100 mg/L. The test substance concentration was analysed using GC-analysis and resulted in a concentration of < 0.18 mg/L (limit of quantification). No inhibition of growth was observed after 72 h. Therefore, this study resulted in an EL50 of > 100 mg/L (nominal). The NOELR was derived to be ≥ 100 mg/L (nominal).

Based on this result from a structurally related read-across substance (in accordance to Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006 Annex XI, 1.5) which is characterized by a similar ecotoxicological profile, it can be concluded that DiPE triisononanoate triethylhexanoate (CAS No. 68443-84-5) will not exhibit toxic effects to aquatic algae up to the limit of water solubility.
