Additional information

Skin corrosion

Based on the results it was concluded, that rac-1-(3-Methoxyphenyl)ethylamine (read across, CAS 62409-13-6) shows a corrosive potential in the EpiDerm skin corrosivity test. The test method does not yet allow for the differentiation of severity of the effect. The results however indicate moderate corrosivity. For final assignment of a risk phrase at present, further evidence or results from an in vivo study would be needed. [BASF, 2007]

Eye irritation

Based on the results it was concluded, that rac-1-(3-Methoxyphenyl)ethylamine (read across, CAS 62409-13-6) caused serious eye damage in the HET-CAM Test under the test conditions. [BASF, 2007]

Justification for classification or non-classification

Based on the available data for rac-1-(3-Methoxyphenyl)ethylamine (read across, CAS 62409-13-6) (R)-1-(4-Methylphenyl)ethylamine is subject to C&L:

according to Regulation 1272/2008/EC: skin corrosion cat. 1B, H314
