Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

The acute tests on rainbow trout, Daphnia magna and algal were all Static Limit Tests for the low solubility of BDP. The tests were all performed with nominal concentration of the test material of 1.0 mg/L.The results of these tests indicate that the BDP is not toxic to this species up to the limits of its water solubility. A test on the inhibition of bacterial respiration was also conducted. The test substance was suspended in artificial sewage at nominal loadings of 20, 500 and 1,000 mg/L using a 30 minute sonication to assist dispersion. It was concluded that the BDP is not toxic to sewage bacteria up to the limits of its water solubility. Taking consideration of low solubility and high Log Kow value, the BDP may cause long-term adverse effects in the aquatic environment, which need further validation by long-term aquatic toxicity tests.

Conclusion on classification

From these tests, it can be concluded that the BDP has no short term toxicity to aquatic organnisms, but may cause long-term adverse effects in the aquatic environment.
