Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

First-aid measures

Inhalation:
Remove the affected person quickly to fresh air while considering own safety! Do not let the victim walk! Loosen clothing, depending on situation it is recommended to rinse oral cavity and, if necessary, nose with water. If the victim's clothing is contaminated, change the victim and protect him/her against cold. Ensure assisted breathing. Call a physician!
Skin contact:
Remove contaminated clothing immediately; before washing or during washing, remove any rings, watches, bracelets that are in places of contact of the substance with skin. Rinse affected places under a stream of lukewarm water, if possible, for 10 to 30 minutes; do not use a brush, soap or neutralising agents! Consequently, cover the burnt skin with a sterile dressing, do not use any ointments or other medical and pharmaceutical products on the skin. Cover the victim with a blanket to protect him/her against cold. Call a physician!
Eye contact:
Rinse eyes immediately under running water, open eyelids (even by force); if the affected person wears contact lenses, remove them immediately. Do never neutralise! Rinse for 10 - 30 minutes from the inner to the outer canthus so as not to affect the other eye. Seek specialised medical attention as fast as possible; each person must see a physician, even in case of small contact.
Ingestion:
DO NOT INDUCE VOMITING - higher risk of harm to digestive tract!!! Risk of perforation of oesophagus and stomach! RINSE MOUTH WITH WATER IMMEDIATELY AND GIVE TO DRINK 2-5 dl of cold water to alleviate thermal effect of the caustic.
Due to an almost immediate effect to mucous membranes, it is more suitable to offer immediately tap water than lose time by looking for chilled liquid - each minute of delay causes irreversible harm to mucous membranes! Soda or mineral waters are not suitable as they may liberate gaseous carbon dioxide. It is not suitable to drink much liquid, which could cause vomiting and inhalation of the caustics into lungs.
Do not force the affected person to drink, especially if the person feels already pain in the mouth or throat. In this case, the affected person should only rinse his/her mouth. DO NOT ADMINISTER ACTIVATED CHARCOAL! (blackening will make examination of the mucous membranes more difficult and has not a positive effect in case of acids and lye). Do not administer any food. Do not administer anything orally if the affected person is unconscious or having convulsions. Call a physician immediately!

Fire-fighting measures

Suitable extinguishing media:
large fire - powder, foam, CO2
small fire - powder, foam, CO2
Extinguishing media which shall not be used for safety reasons: water
Special hazards arising from the substance or mixture:
Warning up or combustion may make containers containing the substance blow due to pressure increase with a risk of explosion. Cool down the containers in the vicinity of fire using water mist. Possibility of release of carbon monoxide and nitrogen oxides. Formation of corrosive, toxic and explosive mixtures.
Advice for firefighters:
Self-contained breathing apparatus, full fire-fighting turnout gear!

Accidental release measures

Personal precautions, protective equipment and emergency procedures:
Respiratory protection, protection of exposed parts of the body, eye protection. Ensure ventilation. Avoid contact with spilled substance, do not breathe vapour.
Environmental precautions:
Prevent contamination of soil and water, inspect concentration of the substance in the environment in the surroundings of the place of accident.
Methods and material for containment and cleaning up:
Pour absorbent material (Vapex, Vermiculite) onto the substance and sweep it into a waste container.

Handling and storage

Precautions for safe handling:
Packed and transported in rail or truck tanks, steel barrels and IBC drums. Ventilation provided during emptying. Do not breathe vapour. Use suitable personal protective equipment when handling the substance.
Ventilation must be ensured during discharging.
Avoid contact with eyes and skin.
Avoid inhaling of vapour or mist.
Use personal protective equipment.
Do not eat, drink or smoke during the work and observe the personal hygiene principles.
Wash hands with water and soap before breaks and after work.
Conditions for safe storage, including any incompatibilities
Store in rooms that may be easily ventilated in original closed packaging or in steel tanks, if possible in nitrogen atmosphere, far from heat, sparks, open flame or other source of ignition. Do not store together with foodstuffs, strong oxidising agents and concentrated inorganic acids. The substance reacts in contact or when mixed with ammonia salts and forms gaseous ammonia.

Exposure controls / personal protection

1. Technical protection measures: Ventilation
2. Organisational protection measures: Use in a closed area, ensure exhaustion of vapours, use personal protective equipment.
3. Hand protection: protective gloves (EN 374) - recommended materials: Butyl rubber: thickness ≥ 0.7 mm, resistance > 480 min.; Fluoroelastomer - Vitonject 890, Kaechele-Cama Latex (KCL): thickness ≥ 0.7 mm, resistance > 480 min.
4. Feet protection: not specified, working shoes
5. Body protection: protective clothing
6. Eye protection: safety goggles with a protective seal or face shield (e.g. EN 166)
7. Respiratory protection: protective mask or semi-mask with a filter (EN 140) against organic vapours - type A/P2

Stability and reactivity

10.1 Reactivity: Non-reactive under normal conditions.
10.2 Chemical stability: Stable under normal conditions.

Conditions to avoid:
Heating up forms irritant and explosive mixtures. Higher temperatures cause thermic decomposition with formation of nitrogen oxides and carbon monoxide.
Materials to avoid:
Do not store together with foodstuffs, strong oxidising agents and concentrated inorganic acids. The substance reacts in contact or when mixed with ammonia salts and forms gaseous ammonia.
Hazardous decomposition products: Combustion may produce toxic carbon monoxide and nitrogen oxides.

Disposal considerations

Waste treatment methods: Incineration in a hazardous waste incineration plant in accordance with Act on Wastes under the catalogue numbers 160305, 160508 or 150202.
Contaminated waste disposal methods: Rinse with water, dispose the caught water and packaging in accordance with valid regulations.
