Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

First-aid measures

The manufacturing/use of the registered substance fulfils strictly controlled conditions. Therefore, no exposure of man or the environment is expected. In the case of accidental exposure, the following measures should be taken (as reported by the Safety Data Sheet):

Eye contact

- rinse immediately with tap water for 10 minutes - open eyelids forcibly

- consult a physician

Skin contact

- remove immediately contaminated clothes, wash affected skinwith water and soap - do not use any solvents

- consult physician

Inhalation - remove the casualty to fresh air and keep him/her calm

- get medical treatment immediately

Note to physician

- treat symptomatically

Fire-fighting measures

Suitable extinguishing media

- foam, powder, carbon dioxide

Unsuitable extinguishing media

- full water jet

Specific hazards

- heating of container(s) will cause pressure rise with risk of bursting and subsequent explosion

- may form potentially explosive mixtures with air

- Vapours may be invisible and they are heavier than air. They spread on the soil and could penetrate into the sewerage system and into cellars.

- may act as a narcotic and cause loss of consciousness

Protection of fire-fighters

- precipitate gases/vapours/mists with water spray

- use self-contained breathing apparatus

Special method of fire-fighting

- extinguish with foam

- dry powder, subsequently secure with foam blanket

- cool endangered containers with water spray

- for reasons of environmental protection hold the extinguishing agent back

Accidental release measures

The manufacturing/use of the registered substance fulfils strictly controlled conditions. Therefore, no exposure of man or the environment is expected. In the case of accidental exposure, the following measures should be taken (as reported by the Safety Data Sheet):

Personal precautions

- check the possibility of an explosive atmosphere

- do not use tools which produce sparks, make use of explosion proof equipment

- if this does not endanger the action force or other people, air sewers and cellars

- request nearby people to stay in the buildings, to close doors and windows and to switch air conditioning off

Environmental protection

- if possible close leaks

- collect the leaked product by all means available

- if the substance reaches waters or the sewer system, inform the competent authority

Methods for cleaning up

- collect liquids by means of sand, earth or another suitable material

- during the pouring by a pump bear in mind adequate earthing

- make use of explosion-proof pumps

- collect the product spilled out into ventilated containers equipped with absorption filters

Handling and storage

Handling

Technical measures

- processing in closed systems, superposed by inert gas (e.g. nitrogen)

- take precautionary measures against electrostatic charging

Suitable materials

- stainless steel, glass, aluminium, enamel

Unsuitable materials

- plastic

Storage
