CAS number: 100-41-4
In accordance with the GHS criteria for
classification of substances for acute aquatic toxicity, Acute aquatic
toxicity values should be as follows: 96-hr
LC50 (for fish) ≤ 1 mg/l and/or 48 hr EC50 (for crustacea) ≤ 1 mg/l
and/or 72 or 96 hr ErC50 (for algae or other aquatic plants) ≤ 1 mg/l.
Classification for chronic aquatic
toxicity will be relevant for not rapidly degradable substances with BCF
≥ 500 (or log Kow ≥ 4), or for substances with BCF ≥ 500 (or log Kow ≥
4), and with chronic toxicity values (NOEC) ≤ 1 mg/l.
Based on the acute aquatic toxicity data
summarised here, ethylbenzene is not classified for acute aquatic
toxicity to invertebrates.
