Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Losartan is susceptible to aqueous photolysis and degrades rapidly under clear sky conditions. Two photodegradates are formed during photolysis; one less polar than the parent compound; one more polar than the parent compound. The maximum half-life for Losartan is less than 18 hours (at pH 9) in direct sunlight. The half-life at pH 7 was 11.8 hrs with a rate constant of 0.0587 / hr. Therefore, by read-across, losartan free acid has a photolytical half life of <18hrs in aqueous conditions.
